The woman at the well was a Samaritan in Jesus’ time. When Jesus met her at the well and asked for a drink, she was shocked. She asked, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?” As the story unfolds, it turns out that the woman has had 5 husbands, was an adulterer, and had a reputation around town. The cool thing is, Jesus knew all of that and still offered her eternal life – living water. “Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:1-45)
In many ways, I am the woman at the well. I was a lost sinner, unable to do anything about it. But as the Caedmon’s Call song goes, “My God, my God why hast thou accepted me when all my love was vinegar to a thirsty King? My God, my God why hast thou accepted me; It’s a mystery of mercy and the song, the song I sing.” (Mystery of Mercy) God has rescued me from my helpless state, to live with Him forever…into eternity! So I am simply the woman at the well, basking in the mercy and grace that has been shown to me in my undeserving state.
Other than that, I am post-college, feeling older and older everyday. I’m trying to hold off the “cat lady” stage as long as possible, but I just feel like it’s closing in around me! Oh well.
My blog is really just a conglomerate of thoughts, funny moments, musings, and other ramblings. Hope you enjoy!
